Welcome to episode 93 of The You4ia Health Podcast with nutritionist and physiotherapist Simon Hill.
I am so excited to have had the opportunity to sit down with Simon the creator of plant proof and author of the proof is in the plants.
Simon has been the biggest influence on my life in the way of education around the power of plants. I have listened to every single episode of your podcast “the plant proof podcast’ and am blown away by your wealth of knowledge, your drive to know more and the impact you are having any people around the globe.
On today’s episode, we open up a big can of worms in relation to plant based nutrition for professional athletes and Simons clinical experience working as a physiotherapist in this field.
We highlight public nutrition recommendations and how difficult it is for us consumers to know where to begin. Within this field there needs to be legislative change in the way we market and package foods, but in order for this occur we as individuals need to vote with our dollar.
We address a recent study comparing animal-based protein sources and plant-based protein sources at the same amounts addressing the area of muscle protein synthesis.
We chat at length about the role of cooking oils, saturated fats, chocolate and the term moderation and where these fit in our diet from a health and longevity point of view.
