Welcome to episode 6 of the ‘weekly dose of you4ia’ podcast. It was an honor sitting down with Joel Kirkillis, a plant based athlete animal activist and one of the humble human beings I’ve had the pleasure of meeting. Joel has been an amazing mentor for me through all avenues in my life including my training and transition into a plant based lifestyle. He is an inspiration to many and it is evident in this weeks episode.
Joel has an amazing story and a prolific bodybuilding career proving that you can thrive as an athlete on a plant based diet. Joel has competed in 13 body building competitions so far and has podium placed in all of them and won 4, all as a vegetarian and plant based athlete. Joel also has an abundance of knowledge around the area of supplementation, nutrition and movement. He is a certified cross-fit coach and currently completing a bachelor in osteopathy along with a certificate 3 and 4 in fitness (Personal Training). However most of his knowledge came from self education.

Welcome to episode 5 of the ‘weekly dose of you4ia’ podcast. It was a pleasure sitting down with Jelena and Goran, the owners of one of the most iconic plant based dessert bars in Melbourne, known as Gojè (pronounced GO-JAY).
Goran and Jelena have changed the way we look at dessert by revolutionizing the frozen yoghurt. They have taken a whole foods, plant based approach by designing a self serve frozen yoghurt bar that is 100% vegan! All of their amazing yoghurt as well as their delicious toppings are hand made on site from wholefoods, with no pre – mixes or syrups and made with organic ingredients where possible… too good to be true hey?

Welcome to episode 4 of the ‘Weekly Dose of You4ia’ Podcast. This week I had the absolute pleasure of sitting down with the Zac and Cat Balmain, the owners of one of the most iconic vegan cafes in Melbourne, Particle Café. This power couple are doing amazing things in the western suburbs of Melbourne. These guys are some of the most compassionate, humble, kind human beings I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting.
I personally used to work at Particle part time, and grew so much as a person being surrounded by like minded people who genuinely care about the health and wellbeing of everyone and everything. These guys not only creating wholesome plant based alternatives but are educating people in the process.

Nut Mylk Recipe:
- Soak 300g of nuts overnight in tap water and a pinch of Himalayan saly to activate.
- Rinse the nuts out in a strainer the next day.
- Add nuts to a food processor with half of the 850ml of water and a sweetener (20g of agave syrup OR20g of maple syrup OR 2 medjool dates) for 2 – 3 minutes.
- Add remaining amount of water and blitz on low speed for 10 seconds to bind together.
- Strain through a nut bag into a bowl and store on fridge.
- Lasts 6 -7 days and Makes 1.7 Litres of nut mylk.

Welcome to episode 3 of the ‘Weekly Dose of You4ia’ Podcast. I sat down with one of my mentors and great mates Tyson Venables. Tyson is a personal trainer, crossfit coach, yoga instructor and all round awesome dude with a great story to tell. He is the owner of ‘bear strength fitness’ and is up to amazing things, listen in to find out more.

- We cover Tyson’s background, growing up and his transition from Sydney to Melbourne. He answered the historic question Melbourne or Sydney, and chose Melbourne based on the coffee.
- Tyson explains in depth the benefits of yoga, meditation and how it transformed his life.

- He shares with us some of his upcoming projects, in particular his ‘Bear strength man camps’. Which are weekend camps for men including HIIT training, yoga, meditation, surfing, mountain biking and hiking. Tyson is also trying to break the stigma against men’s mental health and their unwillingness to talk about their emotions. He is teaching men that alcohol and drugs aren’t the way to deal with their mental problems.
